Diaspora, refers to a group of people from a specific country that live outside their home land; and they usually create a community in the country that they are living in. This is beneficial for them as they get to relate to eachother, share news about their country, food ingredients, latest fashion of their county's traditional costume and much more.
Palestine News network [news]. (2010). Retrieved from:
http://english.pnn.ps/
Although this seems like a news website that is merely political; yet it contains cultural and local news.
For example it says that Jinen's cinema reopened, good news for Jenin's people right? Displays the latest published artwork, for example it published a musical dialogue called : From France to Palestine, the website aims to get Palestinians all over the world involved in Palestinian art and traditions. It also contains a link that says "Human Rights" thus making it a very diverse website, it has blogs that Palestinians or others can share their thoughts in, contains some cultural tips like "cooking for a Wedding". Contains audio interviews with important Palestinians, and has information about exchange rates as opposed to the "Shelen" which is the name of the Palestinian currency.
Palestinian Diaspora in Brazil
BrazilianPalestinian [diaspora].(2008). Retrieved from: http://www.bpnic.org/PALESTINEHERITAGE.html
This website presentes strong relations between Palestine and Brazil. It presents information
about Palestine, and enocurages people, Brazilians, or Palestinians in Brazil to get involved in the Palestinian
causes. It shows how countries can be there for each other, thus showing that poeple around the world do
care about eachother, the website presents jobs for Palestinians, and presentes latest campagins and events that people can take part in; to help make a difference, and learn more about Palestine. Example of events include: Palestine International Voluntary Work Camp, and Summer encounter, those events aim to take people to Palestine especially Palestinains to introdue them to their country that many of them may not have never been to.
This website is special in many ways, I really like the flag that is presented all over the website (which is a combination of both the Palestinian flag and that of Brazil). And also presents a click bottom that says listen here to listen to the news that are published. The first news is one of my favorite that says that: President Lula Visits Arafat's Mausoleum.
"President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visited on Wednesday, the grave of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, who died in 2004"...refer to website for details.Thank you.
As a Palestinian myself, i liked you're post because it concerns our country but not just in a political way, like many of the websites or posts on the web, they just write about our home country in a political way and write about the conflict, neglecting the other aspects to the Palestinian culture, so finding a website that combines many aspects of the culture is nice. The language in which you wrote the blog is nice, as seeing it is conversational.
