Two years ago, I was totally against Facebook. My friends tried many times to convince me to make an account so we can all stay in touch when we get separated. But my response was always the same to all of them, I HATE FACEBOOK. I felt that Facebook was a waste of time and that it has nothing to do with being in touch with your friends. But, the enormous number of people on Facebook made me re-think about creating an account. On April 2008, I was unfortunately convinced and i created an account. Since that day, my grades has dropped really badly and I got really away and far from my parents and my family relationships as I stayed on Facebook almost all the time since I woke up till I went to bed again.
In the articles I read about Facebook, With friends like these.. and Facebook Exodus, I realized that both authors really really really hate Facebook and they are trying to convince the readers to deactivate their accounts and get rid of them as soon as possible.
They give examples of why people quit Facebook. Some of them complain that they found other accounts with their names and their personal pictures that does not belong to them. Some said that they felt they don't have privacy anymore. And others thought that it makes money out of friendship so they decided to quit it.
The authors also believe that on Facebook, quality becomes nothing and quantity becomes the king. By this phrase they meant that a person can have a lot of friends on Facebook and that what really matters to him/her but they might not even be in touch anymore.
They also argue that on Facebook there is no interaction between people. Friends do not sit together anymore, drink, eat and dance, instead they mediate through words that do not even show their emotions.
I would like you to have a look on this video that shows how Facebook changed our lives and our ways of communication on my other entry which is titled as Ola El Barkouki- HOW FACEBOOK CHANGED OUR LIVES as I am not able to post it here.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
